Menopause occurs when a woman has not had a period for 12 months or more and usually starts between the ages of 45 and 55 years old. Hormonal changes during menopause can trigger a variety of symptoms. Many women experience hot flashes caused by decreased amounts of the hormone estrogen in the body making it difficult to maintain body temperature. Decreased estrogen also causes changes in the vagina such as thinning of vaginal tissue, loss of elasticity, and narrowing of the vaginal canal. These changes can cause vaginal dryness, burning, or pain with sex.
Our medical team can prescribe menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) that includes topical estrogen, oral progesterone, and vaginal estrogen depending on your symptoms and medical history.
The menopausal hormone therapy we prescribe is compounded by our partner pharmacy, Curexa Pharmacy, so that we can personalize and adjust your dosage based on your individual response to the hormone therapy.
