Chlamydia and gonorrhea are common sexually transmitted diseases that can cause infection in both men and women. The urine test checks for chlamydia and gonorrhea in the penis or vagina.
Testing is the only way to know if you have chlamydia and/or gonorrhea, as most people don’t experience symptoms.
Symptoms, when present, may include: pain or burning during urination; vaginal, anal or penile drainage; bleeding from the vagina during or after sex; pain or tingling in the penis; pain in the lower abdomen or back, especially when having sex (in women); pain and/or swelling in the testicles (in men); or fever. If you are experiencing symptoms we recommend that you see a healthcare provider in person instead of using our service.
Untreated chlamydia or gonorrhea can increase your chances of getting other STDs, including HIV. STDs can be passed on to your sex partners and females can experience infertility if untreated STDs cause damage to the fallopian tubes.
